Meet The Mama: Marina from Nipper & Co
We are kicking off a new series of our Meet The Mama Interviews and this week we are chatting to Mamahood Partner, Marina Persoglio, founder of Nipper & Co. She makes organic herbal teas for new mums' and their growing families. All of her teas are hand-blended in the UK to preserve the highest quality of whole leaves, and she personally hand packs every single order.
Award-winning, ethically sourced and certified organic - she uses herbs that have been traditionally used for centuries to support health and wellbeing of women. We asked to share a little about her story of building a business around Motherhood.
Why or how did you start your business?
My first baby, Max was a huge inspiration. I really struggled with breastfeeding and found huge help in herbal teas, that are traditionally used in my home country, Croatia. Being a MSc in Medicinal Plants I saw a gap in the market and decided I should use all my knowledge and help all mums out there with similar struggles.
What is the biggest lesson you have learnt running your own business alongside motherhood?
Don't ever plan last minute, your kids will always have a surprise ready to mess with your plans :)
In moments of self-doubt or adversity how do you build yourself back up?
I would tell myself this is just a bad day/period. Everyone goes through it. Trust in yourself and your vision, the world needs you, role up your sleeves and get on with it!
What does success mean to you?
Having financial freedom, making a difference in this world and being able to help others in need. Also having flexibility to manage my time so I can be there for my kids when they need me.
If there were magically more hours in the day, what would you do with them?
Rest, relax, have another cup of tea.
If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself pre-children that you wish you had known then?
Use all that free time wisely, one day you will have to sacrifice a lot of it.
Name three mothers in business/mum-run brands that inspire you and why?
Kate from Small and Wild, unselfish support, always open and ready to talk.
Ella from Deliciously Ella, her huge success and balancing the mama life while running such a big biz is truly inspiring.
Emma from Isabella And Us for her positive impact on mother health and mental wellbeing.
