The Mamahood is delighted to be collaborating again with woven textiles designer and maker Amy Ilic to run a beginners weaving workshop exclusively for local mamas. Amy is an interior Designer and a Weaver, designing and weaving home and fashion accessories. She is very interested in wellbeing and how craft affects emotional health positively, slowing down in a fast world. If you are yearning to get creative or have a few hours for yourself...come and get your weave on alongside with some lovely fellow mamas!
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
In this workshop Amy will be teaching you how to make your own woven wall hanging.
You will learn how to warp up and play with texture and colour through making Rya Knots (tassels), twining, using roving (un-spun wool) and weaving and making knots in different ways to create interesting textures, resulting in a very tactile textile wall hanging!
This is aimed at total beginners so no experience is needed and if you have woven before she can hopefully teach you a few new techniques! There will be all sorts of yarns to play with; neon’s, sparkles, pastels, and neutrals, so you can design your own piece ready to hang!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Nothing. Amy will provide everything that you will need to have a ready to hang Wall Hanging. If you do have a favourite yarn or scissors then please bring them along!
£40 per person including all materials and you will receive a goody bag on the night too!
The beautiful bright Punk Me Up Cafe in East Dulwich : 34 East Dulwich Road, London SE22 9AX.
