The Mamahood is excited to be collaborating with super-creative online children’s book and print shop, Smallprint, to host an exclusive kid’s workshop this summer. Following fantastic workshops at the Imagine Festival, Southbank Centre, and Edinburgh Book festival, this imaginative children’s session will be lead by Ann Scott from PatrickGeorge, who will captivate kids aged 4-8 with the magical transforming pages of celebrated book ‘When I Grow Up’. Join us for the perfect summer holiday entertainment!
WHO IS PATRICK GEORGE?
Since 2009, PatrickGeorge have been publishing their own range of books and have had several well deserved award nominations. The acetate series plays with magical transformations, where the pages are turned to reveal something unexpected and entertaining and ‘When I grow up…’ is a charming and funny book about grown-up jobs.
Imagine rummaging in the dressing-up box and coming across an eye patch. Put it on and become a pirate! The children featured in this book do not restrict themselves to your average aspirations: they are far more imaginative than that. They want to be artists, scientists, superheroes, film stars, pilots, tennis players, pirates, zookeepers, astronauts and clowns.
WHAT WILL THE WORKSHOP INVOLVE?
Kicking off with a group session, children will be introduced to the book and play a guessing game with an opportunity for role play. Activity packs will be handed out with mix and match backgrounds and acetates; children can play with the magical transformations to construct the book themselves. Following this, there will be time for creative discovery with blank face backgrounds, acetates and washable marker pens, children can play at drawing their own faces when they grow up.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The workshop is aimed at children aged 4-8 but 3 year olds can take part with some adult involvement.
The cost of the class is £10 and INCLUDES a goody bag with a signed copy of the book to take away with you. You will also leave with a delicious ice lolly courtesy of local mama-run company Claudi & Fin. PLEASE NOTE IT IS ONE GOODY BAG PER TICKET. If you would like to buy further copies of the book you will be able to do so on the day.
